Do U-Scope? (Episode 6) 5 volt reference – Why not 12v

Uscope - https://www.aeswave.com/uScope-Master-Kit-p9622.html 5V reference circuits cause some of the most confusing “multiple sensor failure” diagnostics in modern vehicles. In this video I break down what 5V reference is, why it’s 5 volts, how the ECM/PCM uses it to...

Delorean calipers have never been so fun

Delorean calipers have never been so fun

Today we’re rebuilding the rear brake calipers on a DeLorean — a job that solves common issues such as dragging brakes, uneven pad wear, sticking pistons, and handbrake imbalance. The DeLorean’s rear calipers have some unique design quirks, including the integrated...

The automotive industry is not dying…

Everyone’s talking about how bad the automotive industry is right now — low pay, burnout, lack of respect, and technicians leaving the trade. But that’s only half the story. In this video, I talk about what’s really going on in the automotive world — and why it’s not...

Automotive Lab Scope Basics | Understanding the uScope In this video, we walk through the fundamentals of using a lab scope (automotive oscilloscope) — what it does, how it works, and why it’s one of the most powerful diagnostic tools you can own. Using a signal...

Lets look at this again… Which Probe works best

Rotkee Probe – https://store.rotkee.com/en/lx1-coil-on-plug-probe.html

In this video I compare the new Wyze secondary ignition probe (sent to me by AESwave) against my older Wyze probe, and then I bring in a surprise contender: a cheaper Rotkee probe.

Here’s why I made the video: I was genuinely concerned the Wyze probe I bought might be defective, because I could not seem to capture a clean, consistent secondary ignition waveform in the application I was testing. Then I tried the Rotkee probe—and it produced a waveform that was noticeably easier to work with.

So I ran a side-by-side comparison:
Old Wyze probe vs New Wyze probe
Both Wyze probes vs Rotkee probe

Same vehicle/application, same scope setup (as close as possible), same approach

What I found

The new Wyze probe did show some differences compared to the older one, but the improvement was not substantial in my testing. The Rotkee probe was the surprise—it wasn’t perfect, and it still wasn’t “excellent” for this specific use-case, but it performed better than the others in the exact scenario I was fighting.

Who this is for

If you’re trying to capture secondary ignition waveforms, comparing probe options, or you’re troubleshooting why your waveform looks weak/noisy/inconsistent, this video will give you real-world data and expectations.
