Subaru Head Gasket Replacement
We have resealed thousands of Subaru head gaskets over the years and have learned much from our experience. We have compiled knowledge from our current and former Techs and developed what we believe to be the most inclusive, highest quality, and OE-adherent service procedure available. We follow all manufacturer-recommended procedures, specifications, updates, and bulletins to give you the peace of mind that your vehicle will be repaired properly, the first time, by people that are passionate about the end result.
We have seen this service done in a haphazard, lackadaisical, and skimp manner, resulting (in the worst case) in catastrophic damage, and at best, a short-lived repair. Therefore, we focus our attention on quality over price (In 3 years, you won't remember the cost, but you will remember you didn't have to come back).
Our repair includes:
- Detailed disassembly and inspection to advise you of any abnormal situations noted, and develop a customized repair recommendation based on your needs.
- A trip to our local machine shop for cylinder head testing, inspection, and re-surface by an experienced, trusted professional.
- Removal, cleaning, and re-seal of the engine oil pump, (replace common failure oil pump O-ring) including re-torque backing plate.
- Clean engine block sealing surface with the only manufacturer approved method per TSB 02-100-06.
- Adjust valves to specification and final cleaning/preparation of cylinder head for installation (Anti-Stick/Slip compound applied to head bolts and bosses thoroughly cleaned).
- Subaru Genuine head gasket used (we do not recommend the use of MLS head gaskets where not specified by the manufacturer due to the high rate of failure noted from “blown” head gaskets coinciding with their use).
- Subaru Genuine spark plug tube seals and valve cover gaskets used to prevent premature failure.
- New OEM spark plugs installed in every engine to ensure quality of end result (OES ignition wires recommended if applicable).
- NOK (OEM) cam and crank seals used to ensure quality and longevity.
- All OEM timing components used (NTN, KOYO, NSK, Mitsuboshi) to ensure quality and longevity (if overheated, the water pump, the thermostat, and bypass elbow will be replaced as part of an in-house kit).
- Bando OE drive belts installed to prevent noise concerns.
- OES intake and exhaust gaskets used (and throttle body cleaned to ensure proper idle).
- Subaru Cooling System Conditioner added to ensure head gasket longevity.
- High quality, manufacturer-approved coolant used to ensure longevity of cooling system.
- Synthetic blend oil and original Subaru oil filter installed.
- Test drive, re-check, and QC to complete the service.
